Snapshot
The Google DeepMind Institute (GDI) has a unique role in GDM, to develop
solutions and resources built on GDM's technologies and expertise that extend
the benefits to humanity. We are a path to real world impact, beyond ABC
products and services or making our research public.
About us
Artificial Intelligence could be one of humanity's most useful inventions. At
Google DeepMind, we're a team of scientists, engineers, machine learning
experts and more, working together to advance the state of the art in
artificial intelligence. We use our technologies for widespread public benefit
and scientific discovery, and collaborate with others on critical challenges,
ensuring safety and ethics are the highest priority.
The role
We are seeking a driven Impact Data Analyst with a passion for using data to
drive social impact in our Life Sciences, Climate and Environment and
Education efforts. This highly collaborative role will be instrumental in
transforming complex data sets into actionable insights, handling ad hoc
stakeholder requests, and developing robust data analysis infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
Impact Analysis: Design and execute in-depth analyses to measure the
impact of our work
Insight Communication: Translate complex data findings into clear,
visually compelling reports, presentations, and dashboards customised for
diverse collaborators
Ad Hoc Analysis: Respond effectively to data-driven queries from various
collaborators, providing prompt and accurate analysis
Collaboration: Work closely with GDI teams to understand their data needs
and drive project objectives based on insights
Data Infrastructure Development: Build and maintain data pipelines and
processes to ensure clean, organised, and accessible data

Statistical Expertise: Solid foundation in statistical techniques
necessary for robust impact analysis, including hypothesis testing,
regression modelling, and experimental design.
Data Storytelling: Ability to translate technical findings into digestible
narratives and visualisations for a non-technical audience.
Problem-Solving: A proactive and analytical mentality with a talent for
identifying trends, patterns, and anomalies within data sets.

In addition, the following would be an advantage:
Experience in Impact Measurement: Past work in similar sectors (science,
sustainability, education) with a focus on evaluating impact.
Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with any of the following is a plus:
sustainability metrics, life sciences data and metrics, or educational
assessment techniques.
Collaborative Software Development: Experience with version control
systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices.
